Guide to living to eat and not eating to live with your smart phones.
A friend I grew up with in San Francisco once asked if I live to eat or eat to live. That question prompted me to ponder on his question and eventually decided that I lived to eat #livetoeat. Which is a true for everyone on this planet. However, working in an restaurant in the middle of Silicon Valley since the late 1990’s I have seen a transformation. The transformation of people who seek an advice through their smart phones on what they should eat rather than reading an pre smart phone era menu or just simply asking the the folks running the restaurant on what is good. I remember reading reviews in newspapers where an professional reporter’s review focused on the entrées and the selection of the menu items which captured the whole ambiance from the area the restaurant was in and the total experience.
However, nowadays the smart phone era, reviewers sometimes rant on without making sense or are just irate that they spent so much money on food. I have even seen reviews where they simply degrade the restaurant just to drop its overall rating, perhaps helping one of their investments in another restaurant. Raises a question if this would be a fair review from an individual.
Sometimes its good to live in the real world and experience good food with friends.
